| Duration : | 30h Th, 30h Pr |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| Holder(s) : | Philippe Vanderbemden |
| Language : | French language |
| Course contents : | Interference problems : normal mode and common-mode voltages, ground loops, bridge circuits. Connection theory: earthing, guarding and shielding. Advanced measurement circuits using operational amplifiers and instrumentation amplifiers. Noise and noise rejection. Low voltage measurements and applications. Low current measurements and applications. Practical limitations of digital multimeters and data acquisition systems. Electrical characterisation of materials used in electrical engineering : conducting, semiconducting, dielectric and insulating materials. High voltage measurements. Magnetic measurement methods. |
| Course objective : | The aims of this course are to: - understand the theoretical and practical considerations involved in precision electrical measurements; - understand how various materials are used in electrical engineering and how to characterise them; - develop practical skills as well as the ability to carry out successful measurements of low-level signals; - develop the ability to understand and criticise low-level phenomena observed in an electrical measurement lab. |
| Prerequisites : | ELEC0052-1 : Analyse et conception des systèmes de mesures électriques. |
| Workshops : | Practical courses involve mandatory laboratory experiments and exercices |
| Organization : | Theoretical part (30 hours) : schedule to be discussed. Interessed students are asked to contact Philippe Vanderbemden.
T. P. (30 hours) : schedule to be discussed, depending on the measurement lab vacancies |
| Written notes : | A copy of the slides will be given at the first lecture. |
