| Course contents : | Preliminaries: terminology and instrument specifications, passive components, basic interfacing circuits, voltmeter and ammeter circuits, Null methods, Wheatstone bridge, operational amplifier measurement circuits, A/D converters, measurements in multi-phase circuits, interference problems and interference rejection, dynamical instruments, oscilloscope, digital multimeters, data acquisition systems and I/O interfaces. |

| Course objective : | The aims of this course are to: - understand the theoretical and practical considerations involved in electrical measurement systems and methods; - develop practical skills as well as the ability to conduct and evaluate electrical measurement experiments; - appreciate the various sources of measurement errors and understand how to minimize them in order to make successful electrical measurements. |

| Prerequisites : | The "Circuits électriques" course (ELEC0053-1) should be attended the same year (if not, previously). |
 |
| Workshops : | Practical courses involve mandatory laboratory experiments (6 sessions) and exercises. |
 |
| Organization : | Theoretical lectures (30 hours) and practical courses (30 hours) : 1st semester. |
 |
| Written notes : | The course material (theoretical part + practical part) is available at the "Centrale des cours de l'AEES" |
 |
| Assessment : | Throughout the year : written tests during laboratory sessions , laboratory reports, + 1 test of exercices.
January : oral exam. |

| Remarks : | 1. Exams and tests are taken without access to course material, calculators or equivalent. 2. The oral exam (theoretical part + practical part) takes place in the S101 room (Montefiore Institute B28) and lasts 1/2 day. Maximum 6 students per 1/2 day. Morning : 8:30, Afternoon : 13:30. |
