| Course contents : | The course focuses on how certain Human Rights might take benefit from the ICT developments particularly the numerous new applications linked with the Internet but also might be jeopardized by this development
On that point, two main issues will be developed :
- Privacy issues: New meaning of the Privacy concepts/
European approach v. U.S. approach/TBDF/Recent regulatory
and case law developments/Internet Privacy
- Freedom of expression : Yahoo case/Regulatory limits to the free speech
Two complementary and transversal questions will be addressed
through the analysis of these issues.
- How to regulate the Internet ? (selfregulation and coregulation)
- Cybercrime regulations and the debate between liberties and Public Security. |

| Course objective : | As regards the legal education
-To pay attention to the new regulatory approaches and to the ways by which the Internet International dimensions might be met
-To develop an Interdisciplinary approach ¿ How the technology challenges the legal approach ? |

| Organization : | Casus. |
|
| Written notes : | - A ¿dossier¿ compouned of slides, bibliography, articles and relevant legislation.
The dossier is structured by topics. Texts are in French or in English.
- According to the actuality, additional documents (recent case law, new regulatory documents) might be distributed
-Certain documents have to be downloaded from certain
websites (including the CRID¿website : http : //www.crid.be) |

| Assessment : | Two formulas
- either the presentation of a written document on a specific topic linked with the course and approved by the professor +/_ 20 pages ¿ format A4 - 40.000 characters +/_ équivalent with 4 days of intensive work)
- either oral examination
Two questions
- first one (open book) : solution of a casus or analysis of a document (a case law, an opinion)
- second one without preparation : a keyword to define and to replace in its context. |
