| Course contents : | Everyone agrees about the need for the university or graduate schools students to be able to identify quickly, independently and critically, valid and of quality informations. These skills should enable him to overcome the course's professor, and moreover is often considered as one of the fundamental objectives of higher education to prepare young people to become active and responsible citizens. The information literacy is part of the basic tools as well as language skills or office. |

| Course objective : | Five main objectives are selected for this teaching:
- make the student able to find its place as a player and as an author in the network of scientific communication;
- make the student able to control some sixty key concepts in information science and documentation, concepts which are mandatory in his documentary practice;
- make the student able to access information independently (choice of topic and terminology, tool selection, use of tools, obtaining primary documents);
- make the student able to adopt the necessary critical and ethic attitude with the multitude of informations sources;
- make the student able to synthesize and organize the information obtained and able to integrate basic rules of writing a bibliography and a scientific paper.

| Prerequisites : | A good control in the use of a PC and the Internet tools. |

| Workshops : | Practical exercises allow students to go through all the stages of information search, from the initial question to the answer, across the doumentary question, the information retrieval, obtaining documents ... |
 |
| Organization : | The first part of the course, theoretical, is given during lectures. It begins with a pre-test allows student to evaluates her level in the area. The second part of the course, practical, takes place in groups of 15-20 students. |

| Assessment : | The course is assessed by a written exam (open questions and multiple choice). |
