| Course contents : | This course explores the field of victimology through lectures on the following themes:
- The history and scope of victimology.
- The pioneers of victimology and the role of feminism in the development of victimology.
- Victim surveys.
- Multiple victimization and fear of crime.
- The status of victims and victimization in contemporary society.
- The impact of victimization, secondary victimization and victims' needs.
- Family violence.
- Sexual abuse in relationships of authority, especially in the Church.
- The position of the victim in criminal procedure and possibilities to obtain reparation.
- Victim support developed in Belgium and comparison with Québec.
- Evaluation of victim policies in Belgium. |
