Course contents :  This course is part of the Joint Complementary Master's Degree in Naval Construction. It prepares students to master the basic notions relating to the behaviour of floating and naval structures. The course is mainly composed of lectures with examples and case studies. It first deals with the problems relating to the static and dynamic stability of a floating structure, its manoeuvrability and its propulsion. A significant part of the course is devoted to manual practical work and computer-based work. Tests on models in a towing tank are also carried out.
Course objective :  This course is part of the Joint Complementary Master's Degree in Naval Construction. It prepares students to master the basic notions relating to the behaviour of floating and naval structures.
Prerequisites :  There are specific prerequisites: students must have a diploma in electromechanical or aerospace engineering or similar. For other graduates, their applications are given careful consideration prior to acceptance.

Written notes :  The course is very specific and has its own sufficiently detailed notes: it isn't necessary to consult specific works. For any students who wish to improve their knowledge, there is a library collection in the field of naval construction, which is regularly updated mainly thanks to the departments own funds.
Assessment :  Oral exam: it is composed of questions relating to the elements taught in class. Assessment of practical work.
