Course contents :  1. Practical works (Problems):
Correlation between the structure of the molecules and their reactivity (inductive effects, mesomer effects, hyperconjugaison effects, steric effects ).
Reagents and reactions (rupture of the bonds, structure, stability and mode of formation of the reactive organic entities, energetic and kinetic aspects of the reactions)
Methods for studying the reaction mechanisms
Mechanisms in organic chemistry (the way of the reaction, stereochemistry, influence of the carbon structure, solvent)
Electrophilic addition on the double bonds, triple bonds and the trigonal cycles ;
Nucleophilic addition on the double bonds, the aromatic ring, the trigonal cycles, the acetylenic compounds and nitriles;
Nucleophilic substitution on saturated carbon (SN1, SN2, SNi), on the carbon of a carbonyl and on the aromatic ring;
Elimination E1 and E2 .
Electrophilic substitution on the saturated carbon , on the triple bounds and on the aromatic ring.
Radical reactions (additions, substitution on saturated carbon and on aromatic rings, elimination, transpositions, biradicaux)
2. Seminars
Presentation by the student of a particular subject relating to the recent evolution of the organic or biological chemistry (mechanisms, syntheses, catalyse, biomolecules...)
Course objective :  Better understanding of the synthesis or the transformation of organic and/or biological molecules by analysing the reactional mechanisms.
To confront the student with new aspects of the organic and biological chemistry.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- to explain in details the mechanism of the chemical reactions
- to give an oral presentation on a particular subject relating to the recent evolution of the organic or biological chemistry
