Theory
Introduction to the Gas liquid chromatography and HPLC : description , characteristic equations, column resolution , optimisation of the separations...) Quantitative analysis and case analysis. Instrumentations: injection modes (GLC) column characteristics and principal detectors.
Practical works
The practical works consist of laboratory experiments illustrating the main quantitative analytical methods described in CHIM9241-1 and in the methodologic complements of CHIM9242-3 (gravimetry, titrimetric methods), quantitative UV-VIS analysis, ion chromatography

| Course objective : |
For the bachelors in Chemical Bioengineering , this course follows the CHIM9242-1 lectures with the same objectives to which the chromatographic techniques (GLC and HPLC) are added as quantitative methods of analysis.
It contributes to the development of students analytical know-how (and competences) by pratical works in the laboratory.
After completing the course, the student is expected to
- demonstrate a knowledge of gas-liquid and high performance liquid chromatography
- be able to calculate qualitative and quantitative chromatographic parameters
- asses optimal separation conditions
- master non instrumental and fundamental techniques in the laboratory.
