Master in Chemical Sciences, didactic approach, 2nd yearSecond semester2
Master in Chemical Sciences, specialized approach, 2nd yearSecond semester2
Holder(s) :  Lionel Delaude
Language :  French language
Course contents :  This advanced course is devoted to the study of organic reactions catalyzed by transition metal complexes. It consists in a series of lectures, which focus mainly on recent developments in olefin metathesis and related reactions. In the second part of this course, each student receives a recent article from the literature for performing a critical analysis to be presented in front of the class during a brief seminar.
Course objective :  This course aims at presenting in-depth recent developments in organometallic catalysis and to help students understand how to critically analyze the scientific literature.
Prerequisites :  Notions of organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and catalysis.
Organization :  This course will be given during the second quadrimester. The exact schedule is to be determined according to the availability of all participants.
Written notes :  Detailed lecture notes written in English will be available as pdf files and handed over to students during the first lesson. The scientific articles used for personal work will be available at the science and engineering library.
Assessment :  The assessment will consist in the presentation of a brief seminar (15 minutes) on a recent literature article, followed by questions & answers.
