Master in Chemical Sciences, didactic approach, 2nd yearToute l'année2
Master in Chemical Sciences, specialized approach, 2nd yearToute l'année2
Holder(s) :  Christine Jérôme
Language :  French language
Course contents :  This course illustrates by the presence of several chemists of the polymer industry, industrial processes to synthesize these materials together with their applications fields. A special attention is focussed on biomaterials. These examples include natural polymers, polyurethane foams, polyethylene, pressure sensitive adhesives, intraocular lens materials, glass fibers/polymer composites...
Two visits of industrial plants are included in the course program.
Course objective :  The main objective of this course relies upon the study of main polymeric materials industrially produced and encountered all around us. Through the analysis of specific industrial examples, it will focus on the principal methods of production, the physico-chemical and thermo-mechanical properties of polymeric materials as well as their applications.
Prerequisites :  Course entitled "Macromolecular Chemistry" (Prof. C. Jérôme) in 3rd bac in chemistry sciences.
Organization :  2H/week between January and March
Written notes :  Copy of slides given during the course
Assessment :  Written exam
