| BOTA0403-1 | Signal transduction pathways in plants
| Duration : | 25h Th, 25h Pr |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| Holder(s) : | Jacques Dommes, Patrick Motte, Claire Périlleux |

| Language : | French language |
| Course contents : | The course is focused on brassinosteroid signalling. The experimental work is summarized from the very beginning, the isolation of the first insensitive mutants, to the most recent data. |
| Course objective : | The aim of the course is to illustrate how signalling cascades can be dissected. Brassinosteroids are used as an example, because their relatively 'short' story - started about 10 years ago - is straightforward. This interactive work with student will require introduction of some theoritical concepts - for example about hormone receptors - and of practical methodologies (gene cloning, etc ...). Each teacher will therefore be involved in more specific parts. |
| Prerequisites : | Good knowledge in Plant Physiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics. |
| Organization : | After a general introduction, the schedule is based on reading selected papers in the afternoon and presenting them the next morning. On the last day, a model will be drawn to integrate all data shown. Organization of this course requires that at least three students attend. |
| Written notes : | Copy of Powerpoint slides. |
| Assessment : | The interactive organisation of the course will allow to evaluate student work according to their oral presentations (two for each student), their participation to discussions, etc. . |
