1) Chemical properties of amino acids and of the polypeptide chain

1.3 Detection of aminoacids, peptides and proteins
1.4 Determination of the protein size
1.5 Determination of the aminoacid sequence
1.6 Chemical synthesis of peptides
1.7 Non ribosomal synthesis of peptides
1.8 Post transcription modification of the polypeptide chain
2) Mechanism of protein localization in prokaryotes and eukaryotes
3) Interactions affecting the properties of proteins
3.1 Nature of non covalent interactions
3.2 Intramolecular interactions
4) Conformational properties of proteins
4.1 Secondary and ternary structures of proteins
4.2 Spectroscopic properties od proteins in solution
5) Biophysical properties of soluble and membranar properties
Course objective :  The course will be devoted to the structural and chemical properties of proteins.
Prerequisites :  Lectures in general biochemistry
Thermodynamic and classical physic
Organic chemistry
Workshops :  The practical course (20 hours) will be devoted to the production and chaacterisation of a zinc beta-lactamase.
Organization :  10 lessons of 2 hours
Written notes :  Syllabus + power point presentation
Assessment :  Written exam
