Course contents :
Seminars on medical chemistry, 1st stage

The first part of the course is devoted to the biochemical, technical and clinical aspects of blood components currently measured in the emergency laboratory of the clinical chemistry department.

The second part is devoted to the biochemical, technical and clinical aspects of the different classes of tests determined in the routine labs.

The third part deals with point of care testing.

The analytical and biological validation of tests is discussed with the students during the first part of the seminars. The second part is devoted to the sudy of newly developped tests and emerging techniques. Attendance to clinical colloquium is also planned.
Course objective :
Seminars on medical chemistry, 1st stage

The aim of the course is to provide the students with theoretical and pratical informations in order to allow them :

1. to perform emergency determinations in the best conditions ;

2. to participate, under the supervision of clinical biologists, in the final validation of the laboratory reports ;

3. to efficiently collaborate with cliniciens to the patient care.
