Course contents :  Rapid learning of an inductive method so that students can immediately identify - dates, styles and modes of construction - ancient buildings. Approaching the evolution of plans, outlines, walls, windows, circulation and function as well as a few stylistic questions allowing these identification exercises to be carried out very quickly. Building a thorough knowledge of the vocabulary of ancient architecture.
Course objective :  Future architects wishing to be involved in restoration must be very familiar with ancient buildings. Before acting, the architect has to identify, date and distinguish successive interventions, recognise styles and the atmosphere which they project ...
Prerequisites :  By the 4th year of their studies, students should have sufficient knowledge of architecture and buildings as well as of compositions, and enough curiosity to address and master this method.
Course r33 is an indispensable pre-requisite.
Organization :  A short theoretical message in the form of a seminar and above all many exercise sessions based on photographic documents and field work.
