Course contents :  The programme includes:
  • Visit to workshops or factories in the fields of furnishings and carpentry, ironwork, finishing techniques, design ...
  • Guided tours of sites and buildings, depending on the opportunities presented
  • Visits to exhibitions in the field of design or the "micro" dimension of architecture, depending on the opportunities presented
  • discussion and information seminars around technical themes
Course objective :  To develop students' curiosity and interest in the means of executing architecture, particularly on the small scale which is easily measurable and visible
To develop a sense of observation, reflection, research and architectural resolution, logic and technical sensitivity
To develop awareness of all parameters and formulating and materialising an idea, taking a coherence approach to the process of technical design and the means for executing it
Prerequisites :  Course in architectural composition
Course in construction from the Baccalaureat
Basic knowledge of furniture design and contemporary materials
An interest in current design as applied to the spatial environment

Assessment :  Attentive and active presence required during visits and scheduled presentations
Personal file to be carried out in relation to the workshop visits, to be agreed with teaching staff and submitted for the exam
Work will be submitted at the exam session in January
