| Course contents : | Written communication of a scientific piece of knowledge: exercises in formulating abstract concepts, moving between spoken and written styles of communication, exercises in analysis and summary, implementing the logical structure of a text, reformulating ideas in an original way, laying out a footnote, a bibliography etc. |

| Course objective : | The course consist of teaching how to communicate scientific facts and aims thus at mastering written expression. This is a preparatory course and prepares students for the work involved in writing a thesis. |

| Prerequisites : | The course will be adapted to each student's needs. |

| Organization : | The course is based on practical writing exercises. |
 |
| Written notes : | Exercises are given in the syllabus. |
 |
| Assessment : | Learning involves exercises carried out throughout the course (between four and six each year). Students are thus obliged to take part in class. The final grade consists of assessing these pieces of work and preparing a rough outline of a thesis following the given instructions. |
