Course contents :  
  • Using peripheral IT devices, ability to use the ISA network (principles and navigation), access codes
  • Learning AUTOCAD 2D (lines, edges, texts, blocks, plans, ...) with exercises
  • Using different formats to export images for use with presentation software
  • IT image processing (scanner, integrating into AUTOCAD, resizing)
  • Word processing programme:OPEN OFFICE spreadsheet (Excel type) with exercises
Course objective :  Students will learn to know how to use IT tools which will help them in their architectural careers. The aim is to raise future architects' awareness of and to familiarise them with design logic and technique which students have to be capable of mastering when they enter professional life.
The aim of the course is to take a holistic approach, aiming to integrate IT tools into all aspects of the architect's work (office work, processing images, producing plans, exchanging files through the internet, ...)
The majority of this course essentially takes place in the laboratory; each new subject is preceded by succinct theoretical presentations.
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge of mathematics (acquired in secondary school), notions of geometry (acquired in secondary school)
Organization :  Practical and tutorial work.
Software used may evolve (and change) as a result of rapid developments in the IT world.
Written notes :  Course notes + exercises + recommended IT reading (varies from year to year).
Syllabus.
Assessment :  Graded exercises throughout the academic year with deadlines (beyond which, the grade = zero) Monitored attendance. Individual grades following a practical exam.
