ARLL0334-1  Theory and modeling tools, graphics
Duration :  36h Th
Credits/ECTS :
Bachelier en architecture (Lambert Lombard), 3rd yearToute l'année3
Holder(s) :  Georges Defawes, Carine Driesmans
Language :  French language
Course contents :  This course covers computer aided drawing (CAD) and more specifically how to produce plans and communicate drawings.
Chapters:
1) Reminder about networking and importing and exporting data. 2) Transferring information between drawing software programmes. 3) Reminder of the basics on producing plans. 4) Producing combined cross-section plans and elevations. 5) Basic principles of producing synthetic images. 6) Correcting pixelated images and preparing presentations. 7) Communication, using WEB technology. 8) Producing a presentation.
Course objective :
  • Basic knowledge of working in a network (LAN Windows)
  • Basic knowledge of computer aided presentations, aimed at presenting an architectural project.
  • Basic knowledge of tools used to produce synthetic images and how to correct them.
  • Basic knowledge of computer-aided communication tools.
Prerequisites :
  • Knowledge of Windows, mainly how to manipulate files.
  • Knowledge of classical techniques of producing plans (non-digital).
  • Knowledge of classical graphic techniques (non-digital).
Organization :  Initially, tutorials organised in small groups, each preceded by short theoretical presentations.
Each group will work for three 3-hour sessions, learning theory and how to apply it.
Each student will then work for six 4-hour sessions and one 2-hour session (this work will only take place in the Institute), conducting an exercise in producing and presenting plans. The basis of this exercise is the same for all students. The work itself is individual.
Additional work will be conducted by the student, either within the CAD workshop or at home for around six hours. This work is also individual. Students will submit their work to the teaching staff for approval.
Written notes :
Assessment :  Assessment: at the end of the ten sessions of the set exercise. This assessment relates to the correct use of the methods of producing plans and using vectorial design. It also covers the production of synthetic images and Web communication techniques. An evaluation of either stage may be carried out. This set piece of work counts for 7/10 of the year's points.
The assessment is completed by an exam during the June session. During this exam, the students will present their additional and personal work. This set piece of work counts for 3/10 of the year's points.
During the oral exam in the second session, an evaluation will be made of the student's technical ability to produce plans and their presentation-communication skills.
