| Course contents : | Based on the study of a living space within an existing space, students must design and organise the interior to ensure it is comfortable and suitable for its inhabitants.
Alternating successive zooms with optimal views of the given space will allow the appropriateness of the space and how it operates to be checked.
The analytical phase sets the main outline of the concept to be developed, followed by more precise research into elements which are broad enough to include the study of a balustrade, the diameter of the handrail, a study of colour, material (concrete ...), texture, light (natural, artificial, ...), culminating in the design of the object, such as lighting, furniture, ...
On this occasion, students will be faced with the inherent constraints of the materials which they are using, with the possibility to check and correct the object they have created and to verify its place in the given environment. |
 |
| Course objective : | The course in the study of interiors aims to raise students' awareness of the design of an object in all its diversity and to develop a research approach to the concept, the materials and the conditions under which it can be accomplished.
It pushes students towards the disciplines which complete an architectural project and allows for a smooth transition between this and the study of the object itself. |
 |
| Prerequisites : | Course content taught in workshops 1B and 2B in terms of graphic representation (ARCHI, ...),
Concepts of the study of forms for space
Analysis of habitat
Knowledge of materials |
 |
| Organization : | The teaching staff will work with individuals in the workshops.
The programme is shared across the workshops.
The project of designing an object or piece of furniture will end with making a prototype of the design (involving touch and learning how to use materials) |
 |
| Written notes : | Individual approaches based on the skills acquired and more particularly upon design, architectural furniture ... |
 |
| Assessment : | Shared jury of teachers for all groups in the 1st project
As above for the second, with participation of an external jury involved in material research and objects (lighting, furniture design architect, ...) |
