| Course contents : | Christian religious architecture at the start of the 18th century
Introduction: Religious architecture in Grecian-Roman antiquity
Chapter I: Paleochristian and Byzantine religious architecture
Chapter II: Religious architecture of the High Middle-Ages (5th - 9th centuries)
Chapter III: Norman religious architecture (10th - 12th centuries) Gothic religious architecture (12th - 15th centuries)
Chapter V: Religious architecture of the Italian Renaissance (15th - 16th centuries)
Chapter VI: Baroque religious architecture (17th-18th centuries) |

| Course objective : | By the end of the course, students should have acquired a knowledge of the history of religious architecture and should have absorbed timescale of the history of art through the same theme.
This will help build upon their architectural knowledge and can contribute to their own creative thought processes.
The course also raises future architects' awareness of ancient built heritage and how to critically observe it, as well as the acquisition of a specialised vocabulary. |
