Course contents :  The urban governance course addresses the process of co-ordination between actors, social groups and institutions in the field of urban interventions. It puts into perspective the different forms of regulation that can be observed in this context, as well as the costs and benefits of negotiated management of town-planning.
Course objective :  1- To sensitise engineering, architecture and building students to the rationale behind subjacent actors on urban projects.
2- To lead students to consider the role of professionals in the processes relating to urban production.
Organization :  The course is structured around the presentation of practical cases, which will be the subject of discussion and analysis. Students are asked to read and summarise a reference book in the field of urban governance.
Written notes :  The overheads used during class will be given to students.
Assessment :  Assessment covers the following two elements:
1- Understanding of the concepts presented and discussed during the theory course in the form of a report around ten pages long.
2- Analysis and summary of a reference book.
