Course contents :  Course of Buildings construction techniques 1st Master in Engineering : Architecture

Course objective :  This course covers specific problems related to transformations of buildings, that is, situations very different from those encountered new construction.
The primary objective is to make students aware of particular procedures that are made necessary in a situation in which there is a built object which has to be transformed.
Prerequisites :  Knowledge of construction techniques covered in the courses on TCBI and TCBII.
Knowledge of elements of applied statics and elementary mechanics of soils.
Workshops :  This is presented in the form of projects that are carried as far as the details of construction, drawings, calculations that would be required, and the elaboration of the order and sequence of phases of construction.
Organization :  The theoretical part of the course is presented in two hour class sessions, including on one hand the theoretical procedures applicable to the transformation of buildings, and on the other hand the projection of numerous examples of projects carried out in real situations.
Written notes :  Pdf files for transparencies shown (projected) during the class.
Assessment :  Grading is based on an individual oral examination.
50 % of the grade is based on theoretical knowledge of processes and 50% on a defense of work carried out during practical work sessions.
