| Course contents : | Exploring the world of construction materials will be developed throughout the academic year.
The first term gives students the opportunity to discover the possible uses of various architectural materials through the medium of photographic reportage. Classifying materials based on substance rather than its function will ensure that students become aware of the impact of their choices upon their environment.
In the second term, the course addresses material performance and the manufacturing and processing procedures. This knowledge is indispensable for choosing materials and designing constructed systems.
The last two sessions in the year will be devoted to a practical piece of work putting into practice the knowledge acquired during the theory course and to demonstrating the close links which exist between the different parts of the materials course. |
