| Course contents : | The course addresses general and classical techniques relating to the construction of simple buildings - from the ground to the roof. This includes an introduction to subjects, materials, products and methods of implementing them relating to the various stages and forms of construction: soils, excavation work and foundations, walls, ceilings, stairs, window frames, roof frames, complex roofs and roof coverings.
This programme is regularly interspersed with specific courses relating to projects developed in the workshop.
It also attempts to show that technology is not an end in itself but is a necessary means for architecture to achieve coherence, rigour and performance. Good technology serves form and function.
The practical objective is for students to design and draw the simple buildings covered in the 1st year and the start of the 2nd year of the Bachelor's course. |
