| Course contents : | The course covers the following subjects:
- the place, role and responsibility of the project proponent (architectural engineer or construction engineer) in the multi-player / multi-criteria interplay in any architectural project.
- the elaboration and evolution of the necessary administrative documents: feasibility study, urban development permit file, special specifications, design rules for a detail drawing, etc.
- the technical management of a construction project (designer and builder point of view): planning, coordination of the involved parties, construction site meetings, approval of work done.
- the financial management of the project (designer and builder point of view): continuous estimation of the works costs throughout the project, calculation of the quantities, state of progress, smoothing of the financial needs and the means to be implemented.
- Public procurement contracts in the construction sector.
- Fire standards relating to buildings. "Design" approach to the problem.
- cost control of the planned building: évaluations en pré-esquisse, during the feasibility study, the final design, assessment of the value of an existing building (market and economic value). |

| Course objective : | To understand and master the design and execution processes in construction projects. |
 |
| Prerequisites : | Construction techniques |
 |
| Organization : | The course is comprised of 15 hours of ex-cathedra theoretical classes and 15 hours practical work. It will take place in the 2nd quadrimester. |
 |
| Assessment : | An oral exam is organised in June and relates to all the theoretical material. The course notes cannot be consulted during the exam.
The mark for the practical work counts for 50 % of the final mark; the mark for the oral exam counts for 50 % of the rest.
The test in the second session is comprised of an oral exam relating to the theoretical aspects and the practical work. If students obtain a mark higher than or equal to 12/20 during the practical work, they do not have to take this exam held during the second session. |
