Course contents :  This course comprises seven seminar sessions where students learn the different stages of the research process required to write the dissertation for a master's degree.
Course objective :
  • To initiate students in a research process and support them in producing a personal piece of research work: the master's dissertation.
  • To remind them of the requirements of a piece of research work and provide the precise requirements linked to the dissertation.
  • Help elaborate the development of the research and establish a work schedule.
  • To strengthen the general skills required for research (bibliographical research, problematization, structuring ideas, etc.).
  • To allow discussion on the difficulties encountered during the research (access to the field, conceptualisation, method, theoretical framework, etc.).
  • To inform students of the Institute's resources.
Workshops :  Writing several pieces of work (see assessment)
Organization :  To support students in the dissertation process, various sessions will be organised during the year, according to a schedule that follows the desirable progress of the research.
At the beginning of the year, there are frequent sessions in order to provide students with the necessary tools to begin their work. After that, the sessions are more spread out and help students to check the progress of their research. The sessions are compulsory (the requirements laid out must be respected).
Written notes :  Various documents will be distributed in class during the first session.
Assessment :  As well as participation in the various seminars, the final mark is based on the various pieces of work handed in as well as the form of the dissertation. The assessment is based on the writing of the summary of the proposed dissertation and the compilation of a relevant bibliography following the tools proposed within the framework of the seminar, the mark on the state of progress and its oral presentation, the dissertation presentation text and the form of the dissertation: written expression, spelling, grammar, respect for the rules as regards the bibliographic references and layout, etc.
