| Course contents : | Originally the first area to be investigated in the history of the discipine (which was declared to be « in crisis » or even obscelete by some in the 20th century), the anthropology of parenting today attracts more attention. Indeed, more than ever, it appears to be necessary in order to understand the dynamics of contemporary society. The (interactive) presentation of methodological tools and the analysis of problems on the one hand and reflection on debates relating to the concepts and theories developed over time on the other, will focus attention upon societies in both the north and the south. The accent will be particularly upon contemporary developments in this domain. In particular, approaches which focus on the concept and use of parenting, as well as work focusing on changes to the family in different parts of the world, international adoption, procreation medically assisted, new forms of family (recomposed families, homoparentale...). |
