| Course contents : | 1. Weeds knowledge:definition, weed damages, nocivity tresholds 2. Biology of weeds, incl. modes of propagation, ecology, weed population dynamics 3. Non chemical means for weed population management: - physical means - biological means 4. Chemical means: the herbicides 5. Weed Management Strategies, notably Integrated Weed Management: in arable crops, in agricultural land and in non-agricultural zones. |

| Course objective : | Knowledge of the weed biology and ecophysiology and of the interference of weeds with crop productivity. Knowledge of weed control means notably chemical (herbicides) and non chemical. Reasoning their use in building Integrated Weed Management strategies including effectiveness, environenment and biodiversity. After completing the course the student is expected to - Analyze de risk of the presence of weeds in an agricultural and non agricultural area; - Think an integrated checking plan taking into account the efficiency, economical and environmental aspects. |
