Language :  French language
Course contents :  Introduction
Importance of Agriculture in the tropical areas
Characteristics of the abiotic factors influencing agriculture in the tropical areas
Characteristics of the biotic factors influencing agriculture in the tropical areas
Characteristics of the socio-economic factors influencing agriculture in the tropical areas
Characteristics and typical evolutions of the principal agrarian systems of the tropical zones : pastoral farming systems, slash and burn farming systems, hydraulic farming systems of the arid regions, flooded-rice hydraulic farming systems, post-forester not hydraulics systems of the tropical zones
Course objective :  To describe the principal factors which influence the organisation, the operation and the dynamics of agriculture in the tropical zones of the world as well as the characteristics and the evolution of the latest mode of exploitation of the tropical ecosystems at agricultural ends
After completing the course the student is expected to
- To understand the importance of agriculture and the challenges it must overcome in the tropical areas of the world.
- To evaluate the potentialities and the natural constraints (physical and biological) of the tropical environments with regard to their exploitation at agricultural ends.
- To appreciate the importance of the socio-economic constraints specific to the tropical areas with regard to the exploitations of the environments at agricultural ends.
- To understand the organization, the operation and the dynamics of the principal forms of agriculture met in the tropical areas of the world.
- To discuss the importance of the constraints which condition the durability of agricultural practices in the main farming systems met in the tropical areas.
