Training programmes

The placements of the 3rd and 4th years of Master take place from July 1 until June 30 of the 2nd year. Alle the students have to practice a trainng activity in the clinical and/or laboratory or research department of minimum 21 months including minimum 16 months of clinical activities. Nevertheless, the students must have done 10 months of placement to access the 4th year of Master.

Practical organisation of training periods

The list below shows, for each speciality, the training to carry out for the selection test.



General Medicine
Specific classes in General Medicine will be given during the fourth examination level.



Pathological Anatomy and Cytology
  • Pathological Anatomy: 1 to 2 months
  • Internal Medicine and Radiology: 1 to 4 months
  • 1 month to be chosen by the student


Anaesthesia-Intensive Care
  • 1 anaesthesia-intensive care intership : 2 months (1 anaesthesia-intensive care, 1 intensive-care)
  • 2 optional internships depending on the personal affinities of the student (emergency - internal medicine - pneumology, pediatrics - neonatology)


Clinical biology
  • 1 month of optional placement in medical chemistry
  • 1 month of optional placement in blood tranfusion ; the placement can be extended depending on the future orientation
  • 1 month of placement in clinical hematology, in biological hematology
  • 2 placements of each 1 month, chosen by the student


Surgery
  • General surgery : 3 months general surgery, 1 month orthopaedic surgery, 1 month plastic surgery, 1 month intensive care
  • Orthopaedic surgery : 2 months orthopaedic surgery, 2 months general surgery, 1 month plastic surgery, 1 month rheumatology, 1 month physiotherapy
  • Plastic surgery : 2 months plastic surgery, 2 months general surgery, 1 month orthopaedic surgery, 1 month dermatology
  • Neurosurgery : 2 months neurosurgery, 1 month general surgery, 1 month orthopaedic surgery, 1 month medical neurology, 1 month intensive care


Dermatology
Two possibilities :
  • option 1 : Research during 6 months
  • option 2 : internal medicine and URM - Medical clinic : 3 months ; urology, ophtalmology, ORL, paediatrics, gynaecology, stomatology or maxillofacial surgery during the remaining 3 months


Medicine
  • URM - medical out-patients' clinic : 1 month
  • Internal medicine (ward): 1 to 3 months in the envisaged complementary masters


Nuclear Medicine
  • Nuclear Medicine : 3 months
  • X-Ray Diagnostics : 1 month
  • Oncology : 1 month
  • Medical Chemistry : 1 months


Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Neurosurgery, Internal medicine - Neurology, Internal medicine - Cardiology : 1 to 4 months




Neurosurgery
  • Neurosurgery: 1 to 2 months, choice of: orthopaedic, maxillofacial or vascular surgery

Research
Following the agreement of a departmental head (clinical, paraclinical or fundamental sciences) and the approval of the Jury, a complete internship plan including 2 to 5 months research during the 3rd and 4th épreuves may be accepted.
The file including the curriculum vitae of the interested party and the description of the research project must be submitted to the Jury.
Access to one of the specialities, via the research option, depends on the person in charge of this speciality.
