Course contents :  The surgical pathology of production animals was treated in this course. We treated a frequently surgical pathology in Belgium. It contens lameness, digestive urinary and respiratory tract.

The course on pig surgery describes the most frequent surgical procedures carried out on the pig farm (castration, tail clipping, teeth clipping, de-tusking boar, caesarean, treatment of prolapse of the rectum or uterus,...).

Course objective :  The general objectives of this course is to enable students to watch certain surgical interventions, and to be able to manage the most frequently encountered ruminant surgical pathologies.

The specific objectives of this course are:

-to learn the most frequently encountered surgical diseases.

- to diagnos the different surgical diseases of ruminants.

- to establish a vital and economical prognosis

- to propose a surgical treatment according to the disease.

- to learn the most frequent surgical techniques used in procine field work.

-to consider the economical interest and the legal context of porcine surgical interventions.

A frequently surgical pathologies knowlegde and some surgical treatment.
Prerequisites :  Theoritical and practical knowledge in propedeutic, biology, surgical technic and anesthesia are considered as prerequisite.

Organization :  The course is given using power point presentations and illustrated by short movie sequences.

Starting off from one symptom, an overview of the dieases and their surgical treatment linked to the symptom will be conducted in the most interactive way possible with the students. This will relate to surgical diseases of the locomotive, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems.

A power point courses was given and illustrated by movies.
