Course contents :  The course is organised in a problem-based approach and includes 6 chapters:

  • 1. Equine diseases of the digestive and hepato-biliary system
  • 2. Equine diseases of the respiratory system
  • 3. Equine cardiology
  • 4. Equine neurology
  • 5. Equine neonatalogy
  • 6. Equine dermatology
The main diseases of the endocrine, muscular and urinary systems will be briefly documented in one of those chapiters.


The objective of the course is to give the student a problem-based approach of the most frequently encountered equine internal medecine problems.

The course includes 4 chapters:

  • Diseases of the digestive and hepato-biliary system (H. Amory)
  • Diseases of the respiratory system (C. Sandersen)
  • Cardiology of the horse (H. Amory)
  • Diseases of the nervous system (H. Amory)
The main internal medicine diseases encountered in foals will be briefly discussed throughout those 4 chapters
Course objective :  This course describes the internal medicine diseases most frequently encountered in equines. Using a problem-based approach, a differential diagnosis of the problem will be given. Therefore, the diseases will be described, with a special emphasis on the clinical signs, the risk factors, the diagnostic methods, the prognosis, and the treatment.
