| Course contents : | - Introduction - Harvest of the biological data in the field - Laboratory techniques (serological, molecular and biological tests) - Evaluation of the results in the context of certification procedures - Application of the techniques on tropical and subtropical models |
 |
| Course objective : | The course describes the approach adopted for the diagnosis of plant pathogens, the main laboratory methods (biological, serological and molecular) and their respective fields of application. After completing the course the student is expected to - To understand and to apply a protocol already developed (Koch's postulate, insect transmission of viruses, serological tests and molecular tests) and to analyse the significance of the results in a professional context (detection, certification,...) ; - To select the most appropriate technique to solve a phytosanitary problem by integrating pathological considerations (objectives of the analysis), regulation as well as the economical constraints (cost, quality assurance,...). |
