Course contents :  1) Preparation of samples for bioanalysis (P. Chiap):
- Review of the importance and the objectives of treatment of biological samples.
- Description of different modes of preparation of biological samples.
- Detailed presentation of the technique for extraction in the solid phase and its automatization (at-line and on-line modes).
- Description of the main types of support for extraction.
2) Mass spectrometry in complex environments (M. Fillet):
- Review of the theoretical ideas involved with mass spectrometry.
- Description of the main sources and analyzers used for the analysis of medicines in complex environments.
- Requirements connected to the presence of complex matrices (preparation of samples, coupling with a separation technique: LC, GC or CE, ionization suppression effect).
- Presentation of LC-, CE- and GC-MS applications.
3) Chirality (A. Ceccato)
4) Practice with chromatographical methods in complex environments (J. Crommen)
5) Validation of bioanalytical methods (P. Chiap):
- Review of the context of validation in bioanalysis.
- Detailed description of the criteria of validation applied in bioanalysis.
- Presentation of a protocol for validation of a bioanalytical method.
- Analysis of guidelines and recommendations of the FDA in this regard.
Course objective :  To complete the knowledge of the students in the field of drug analysis in complex media (bioanalysis).
Prerequisites :  1st year of the degree of master in pharmaceutical sciences
