| Course contents : | STATICS - Force systems - Equilibrium - Structures - Center of mass and centroids - Distributed forces - Friction DYNAMICS - Kinematics of particles - Kinetics of particles - Plane kinematics of rigid bodies - Moments of inertia - Plane kinetics of rigid bodies |
 |
| Course objective : | To build a foundation in mechanics (statics and dynamics) : presentation of general methods and application of these methods to practical engineering problems. After completing the course the student is expected to - Construct free-body diagrams - Establish and solve the equilibrium equations to find reactions and internal forces - Establish and solve the equations of motion for particles and rigid bodies |
