| Course contents : | The part of the seminar led by Françoise Tilkin will address a subject or a group of subjects which students will choose together during a preparatory session organised at the start of the academic year. As part of this, each student will be responsible for studying a question which they will attempt to answer through research, and present in a written piece of work in the form of a scientific article. Group work (oral presentations at different stages of the research to facilitate exchange of information and shared problem solving) and individual interviews will occur throughout the research. As the opportunity arises, students may be required to attend scientific meetings.
The part of the seminar led by Daniel Droixhe in 2009-2010 will cover "Themes and writers in 18th century periodicals". The following themes will be prioritised:
- Happiness and pleasure
- Medicine, public health, obstetrics
- Female 'types': the "diaphanous woman", the "playful woman"
- The discovery of electricity
- The climate debate
The writers who will be considered are
