| Course contents : | This course will take a deeper look at the specific aspects of mediaeval literature through the study of a genre, a style of writing or a particular theme. A general introduction will place the works into context. The course will subsequently alternate between analytical approaches and detailed examination of passages of text, with translation and commentary. Written and oral work will be proposed to students (various aspects of the works, mediaeval or modern transpositions).

| Course objective : | * To discover the numerous facets of a mediaeval work and the variety of analytical methods required to appreciate this diversity. * To strengthen knowledge of ancient French acquired in the second year. |

| Prerequisites : | Introductory course on the study of French texts from the Middle Ages with an introduction to philological methods, 2nd Bac., N. Henrard. |

| Organization : | Length and time: 30 hours theory + 15 hours of practical work, 2nd term. Course location: Place Cockerill, Wednesdays from 11am to 12.30pm and Thursdays from 8am to 9.30am.
