INGE0005-1  Kinematics and dynamics of machines
Duration :  18h Th, 20h Pr, 4h FT
Credits/ECTS :
Bachelor in bioengineering, 3rd yearDeuxième quadrimestre3,5
One-year preliminary programme leading to the Master in BioengineeringDeuxième quadrimestre3,5
Holder(s) :  Marie‑France Destain
Language :  Langue française
Course contents :  - Machines considered as dynamic systems
- Mechanical vibrations: free vibration, forced vibration, vibration isolation, nonsinusoidal excitations, Fourier series anlysis, critical speeds
- Analysis of mechanisms : four-bar linkages, slider-crank mechanism, cams and followers, gear trains
- Modelling of mechanical systems (Software: Working Model)
Course objective :  To acquire a knowledge in mechanics often used in agricultural machines.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- analyse the main mechanisms (four-bar linkages, cams, gear trains, ...)
- analyse the vibrating systems to filter the vibrations
- model a mechanical system with Working model
Prerequisites :  -- ME101 - Engineering mechanics
-- ME201 - Dynamics of systems
Organization :  Lectures : 18h
Practical Works : 20h
Field-study trip and visits : 4h
Written notes :  - Notes de cours , Destain M.-F., Faculté des Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux
- Kinematics and Dynamics of Mechanisms, Grosjean J., McGraw-Hill, 306 pp., 1991
Assessment :  Written examination (100%)
