Course contents :  This course aims to develop the four linguistic skills, namely:

  • oral expression
  • written expression
  • listening comprehension
  • reading comprehension
Course objective :  
  • Oral expression: coherent and syntactically correct recital of a sophisticated text
  • Written expression: coherent and grammatically correct production of a narrative text or argument
Prerequisites :  Have a elementary knowledge of the language both in written and oral terms and know the grammatical bases.
Organization :  The course takes place for 1.5 hours a week.

Method

  • Active and direct, requiring constant participation from students, training in comprehension (reading, listening) and expression (written and oral)
  • Students will be called upon to carry out practical work: oral presentations with written files, edits or summaries of texts.
Written notes :  The course notes will be handed out by the course leader at the beginning of each lesson.

Assessment :  20%: continuous assessment, including a non-exempting examination in January

80%: evaluation in June involving an oral and written examination

  • 40%: Oral examination: for half of the assessment, students will be questioned about the content of a given text. For the other half, students will be questioned on the content of the course and will have to prove their ability to hold a sophisticated (both grammatically and lexically) discussion on subjects with which they have become familiar over the year.
  • 40%: written examination including drafting a coherent, structured and sophisticated text (narrative or argument), reading and listening comprehension.
