Course contents :  This course presents a synthesis of the Early Modern History (15th-18th century), taking into account its political, cultural, social, religious and economical dimensions. It will give the opportunity to underline the main stakes of the modernity from the Italian Renaissance to the French Revolution.
Course objective :  This course is a structuring course, expected to fix the knowledge. At the end, the student will get a general mastery of the Early Modern History, necessary precondition to continue his/her history training. He/she will become aware of the main questions concerning the Early Modern period that liven up currently the academic research.

In addition to the course, the student will study the manual of St.-A. Durand et d'E. Wenzel, 1oo fiches d'histoire moderne, Breal, 2007.

He/she will also read a source of Early Modern History amongst the titles suggested at the beginning of the year.
Assessment :  January : writing exam on the matter of the course, the manual and the reading.

May-June : oral exam on the same matter for the one who failed.
