Course contents :  Historical and actual background of game management in Wallonia
Biology, management and legislation of the big game species
Management of the field game species and introduction to environment-friendly agricultural practices
Shooting plan and monitoring indicators for red deer
Tools and guidelines focused on the study of game species and habitat relationships
Large ungulates and biodiversity
Bio-indicators adapted to roe deer
Course objective :  To give to the Water and Forest Ingeneers the minimum knowledge about hunting, in order to carry out their profession, in the private as well in the public sectors, and to deal with complex problems of hunting management
After completing the course the student is expected to
- better understand the aims and priorities of the Walloon hunter associations;
- be familiar with biology of the main game species in Wallonia, with focus on red deer, roe deer, wild boar, hare, partridge and pheasant;
- be able to manage the balance between the game species and their ecosystem;
- become familiar with the main techniques in monitoring game species.
