| Course objective : | Presentation of basic techniques and methods that can be used to collect and analysed data in the context of natural resources management. This course put emphasize on Information System (Database and Geodatabase) design and management. After completing the course the student is expected to - understand the basic concepts of natural resources inventories; - be able to design sampling scenarios covering different kinds of inventories and surveys (management forest inventory, wildlife survey, tropical forest inventory, biodiversity assessment, ¿); - be able to organise the collection, the storage and the treatment of datasets describing natural resources; - be able to handle softwares dedicated to different types of ¿natural resources¿ datasets (forest, wildlife, habitat analysis, aerial photo interpretation, mapping, ¿). |
