Field applications
Course objective :  Deals with the different concepts and technics of site diagnosis in the context of forest management, with field application to Belgian forest sites
After completing the course the student is expected to
- master the concepts of site analysis at different levels (stand, forest, region) and using different approaches (factorial, typology);
- master the different techniques of floristic or abiotic analysis: geomorphopedology, phytosociology, site types,¿;
- recognise the forest habitats of Belgium from floristic or abiotic analysis;
- identify the site potentialities concerning suitable species, adapted silviculture, biodiversity,¿.
Prerequisites :  Knowledge of forest species in temperate areas
