| Course contents : | As an extension to the "Socio-economics of the production and circulation of books" given in 2008-2009, this course will take a deeper look at the theoretical and historical frameworks of two fields in particular: 1) the paths taken by French-speaking Belgian writers in the publishing world; 2) the sector or sub-sectors of electronic publishing in Belgium. |
| Course objective : | 1) To outline the paths taken by contemporary writers in the French-speaking publishing world; 2) to update the relationships of reciprocal determination between adopted genres, career strategies and publishing positions occupied; 3) to develop in-depth knowledge of the possibilities offered by the digital revolution in terms of books. |
| Workshops : | 1) Having chosen three contemporary writers from the list which will be provided at the start of the course, each student will reconstruct the precise publishing path of the authors, according to different criteria (generation, adopted genre, type of target audience, etc.); this reconstruction will require students to read at least one work by each author; 2) the groups established last year in the "Socio-economics of the production and circulation of books" course to study digital publishing will come together again to deepen their analysis, leading to a publishable piece of work. |
| Organization : | The timetable will be set in agreement with the students, who are requested to get in touch with the lecturer at the start of the academic year.
