Course contents :  Introduction: the use of animal cell culture
Biology of the cultured cells
The cell culture laboratory and its requirements
Laboratory safety and biohazards
The culture environment: substrate, gas phase, medium and temperature
Basic cell culture techniques
Quality control and biosafety of handling cells
Specialized techniques
Specific cell types and their requirements: a survey
Implications of animal cell culture in microbiology for growing of specific bacteria, virology for animal viruses, immunology and biotechnology; use in viability, cytotoxicity and modern toxicology as an alternative for animal experiment.
Course objective :  Overview of the basics of animal cell culture
Overview of their utilization and applications in microbiology, virology, biotechnology, immunology, modern toxicology and quality control
After completing the course the student is expected to
- know and control in vitro culture parameters
- use in vitro culture basic techniques.
