The infant-juvenile psychiatry education pathway aims to supply the theoreatical, clinical and therapeutic basics allowing the specialisation in pedo-psychiatry to be practiced.
The teaching is structured in three parts:

- A systemised clinical description of the different paedopsychiatric disorders with their symptomatology, their definition and classification, the various etiopathogenic mechanisms envisaged from a biological point of view, as well as psychological and social, and the different therapeutic approaches, especially pharmacological and psychotherapy;
- Systematised training in the different therapeutic approaches envisaged both on a theoretical level and based on clinical examples, especially psychodynamic, systemic, cognitive-behavioural, psychopharmacological;
- Training in various specific aspects such as assessment tests, forensic psychiatry and psychiatric examination.

This training includes various clinical and therapeutic approaches in order to provide students with the necesssary skills to establish a diagnosis, assess the various pathogenic factors and to know the bases of the various therapeutic approaches. Besides the theoretical aspects, the training is based on discussions of patient cases reported on by the participants. The training is combined with five years of full-time internships in psychiatry (one or two years) and in paedopsychiatry (three or four years) and allows students to acquire the skills necessary to practice paedopsychiatry.

Access conditions
|
- Being a doctor of Medicine qualified to practice in Belgium
- Being in possession of official evidence that you have succeded the selection test for access to the complementary Masters organised by the Ulg's Faculty of Medicine
