The complementary Masters aims to provide the theoretical, clinical and therapeutic basics allowing specialisation in psychiatry to be practiced, including pedo-psychiatry and psycho-geriatrics. The teaching is divided up into three parts :
|
- a systemised clinical description of the different psychiatric disorders and their symptomology, their definiation and classification, the different etiopathogenic mechanisms envisaged from a biological point of view, as well as psychological and social, and the different therapeutic approaches, especially pharmacological and psychotherapy;
- systemised training in the different therapeutic approaches envisaged both on a theoretical level and based on clinical examples, especially psychopharmacological, psychodynamic, psychanalytical, cognitive-behavioural and systemic;
- training in various specific aspects such as projective tests, forensic psychiatry and psychiatric examination, clinical psychophysiology and the psychological and psychiatric aspects of palliative care.

This training includes various clinical and therapeutic approaches in order to provide students with the necesssary skills to establish a diagnosis, assess the various pathogenic factors and to know the bases of the various therapeutic approaches. Besides the theoretical aspects, the training is based on discussions of patient cases reported on by the participants. The training is combined with internships in psychiatry and allows students to acquire the skills necessary to practice psychiatry, including paedopsychiatry and psychogeriatrics.

Access conditions
|
- Being a doctor of Medicine qualified to practice in Belgium
- Being in possession of official evidence that you have succeded the selection test for access to the complementary Masters organised by the Ulg's Faculty of Medicine
