A ruminant clinical (individual cases) was organized by clinical départment of production animals.

Médecine des troupeaux de ruminants

The clinic of the ruminant herds medicine is one of three clinics supervised by the department of the production animals. She completes the practical training offered by the individual cases and porcine clinics.

Swine clinic

Training of students is achieved through seminars and practical workshops.

Course objective :  
Ruminants clinic (individual cases)

At the end of the week, it's possible to student to do a complet exam of animals and give a diagnosis.

Médecine des troupeaux de ruminants

The objectives of this clinic are to make sensitive the students in the herd diagnosis in the context of a more global approach of the problems recovering from the internal medicine, surgery or theriogenology of the ruminants. This approach is completely additional of the individual approach.

Corses, TP, TD of medecine, surgery and theriogenology.

The clinical formations presuppose a good synthetic knowledge of physiology, general and topographic anatomy, propedeutics and semiology, nutrition, an,d ethology of the ruminants.

Swine clinic

Basic notions in anatomy, pharmacology, surgery and ecology applied to domestic animals.

Swine clinic

Objectives are :

Seminar : "Theoretical introduction to the Swine clinic":

Back to the basics : restraint, weight estimation, blood sampling methods, injection sites, processing newborn piglets, castration.

Practical "Restraint and weight estimation":

To initiate students to restraint of pigs.

Weight estimation and weighing of growers/finishers and/or sows.

Practical "Blood collection":

To initiate students to collect blood from growing pigs and/or sows.

Practical "Care, surgery and/or blood collection":

To initiate students to process newborn piglets, castration and/or blood collection from growing pigs and/or sows.

Practical "Climate control":

Back to the basics : climate control of pig houses.

Measurements and simulations in growers/finishers.

Attendance is obligatory from 8h30 until 11h.

The week of herds medicine is organized from Monday till Friday from 8:30 am till 11 am in the building adjacent to the porcine clinic (B42).

Swine clinic

Practical modalities for this training will be addressed to the students during the seminar "Theoretical introduction to the Swine clinic".

The clinical teaching concerns the theoretical contents given during the 1st and 2nd graduat in veterinary medicine.

Swine clinic

Specific notes will be available at the "Office des cours".

At the clinical week, all students was evaluated at three times about theoritical knouwledge, practice and behaviour.

The clinical activity will be the object of an evaluation of the knowledge (at the beginning of the week), of the knowledge-being (during week) and of the know-how (at the end of week).

Swine clinic

An evaluation of the knowledge-being, the knowledge and the know-how of each student will occur during the Swine clinic.
