Course objective :
Core curriculum

During the lectures of the "Tronc commun", presentation of the bacterial diseases with emphasis on the bacteriological aspects: aetiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, lesions, diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis and public health aspects. During the lectures of the options, presentation of the specific aspects of bacterial diseases of the respective target animal species: diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis, public health and notifiable diseases.
Prerequisites :
Core curriculum

Very good knowledge of the content of other courses: pathology, histology, pharmacology, in relation with the bacterial diseases; and of course of the course of Bacteriology of the third year (especially chapters 5 to 9).
Workshops :
Core curriculum

During the practicals ("Module paraclinique"), the students will receive more information concerning laboratory diagnosis of bacterial diseases and specific information to complement and to illustrate the lectures.
Organization :
Core curriculum

- 30 hours of "Tronc commun" (Prof. Jacques Mainil)

- 5 hours of "Option Equidés" on the specific aspects of the equine bacterial diseases (Prof. A. Linden)

- 5 hours "Option Compagnie" on the specific aspects of the bacterial diseases of dogs and cats essentially (Prof. A. Linden)

- 5 hours "Option Production" on the specific aspects of bacterial diseases of ruminants, pigs, rabbits and poultry (Prof. J. Mainil, Prof. A. Linden)

- 20 questions with short answers on the "Tronc commun" (QROC)
- a multiple choice questionnary (20 questions) on the "Tronc commun"(QCM)

The practicals ("module paraclinique") will not be specifically marked, but the commitment of each student will be appreciated and can modulate the final note. In addition any student failing to take the practicals may be refused the evaluation in May/June.
