Course contents :  This course presents a synthesis of the basic concepts needed to perform anaesthesia in veterinary medicine. The course includes several chapters talking about: loco-regional analgesia, pharmacolgy of the central nervous system, physiopathology of general anaesthesia, technical elements for volatile anaesthesia, monitoring and main complications. The last part of the course gives the main protocoles used in small animals, large animals and laboratory and exotic animals.
Course objective :  To learn the main basis needed to perform safe anaesthesia in veterinary medicine
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge in pharmacology and physiology
Workshops :  practical demonstration of the anaesthetic machines, respirator and monitoting systems
Organization :  Theorical lecture and practical approach during the clinics in 2nd and 3rd GMV
Written notes :  notes available at the course office and on my Ulg
Assessment :  Written exam with long opened questions
